Earlier this year, talented competitors went head-to-head in season one of the Magic: The Gathering Arena ESL ANZ Championships. Following the success and turnout of the first season, players and fans can rejoice as Season two commences this November. Thanks to the partnership between Wizards of the Coast and ESL, more competitive opportunities will be provided for ANZ players through the ESL ANZ Champs programme.

Season two’s standard tournament begins with an Open Qualifier on November 20th, an even playing field for competitors to prove their talents and skills over four weekends of gameplay, with the Champions Stage taking place in December.

On the Saturday of each weekend, a swiss-system open qualifier will determine the top 8 players who then aim to earn as many points as they can in a single-elimination bracket on Sunday – in the hopes of qualifying for the Champions Stage.

The top 8 players across all four weekends will duke it out for the grand prize live on December 19th, but you can tune into the action on ESL Australia’s official Twitch channel for both the weekly Top 8’s and the Champions Stage.

Similar to the first season, season two boasts an equally impressive $2,500 AUD prize pool. There’s also MTG Arena Gem codes, an exclusive MTG uncut sheet, and a range of highly sought after TCG products from the latest set: Innistrad: Crimson Vow! up for grabs.

If you’re from Australia or New Zealand, over 16, and think you have what it takes, head over to ESL Play to register for the Magic: The Gathering Arena ESL ANZ Champs Season 2. With some of the region’s most experienced and technically proficient players taking part, it’s bound to be a fierce tournament.
